I dont think it would get that much water in there at a car wash but what im worried more about is the chemicals in the soap they use and in the spot free rince

I spray off my motor quite a few times a year because of the excess of mud I regularly coat it with. Ive always used a pressure washer with soap/engine spray and never had an issue. I wouldnt worry about it.

the biggest engine able to be put in a dakota is a 454 but onlyin the dakotas in which the front was made lnger to adjust for the v8s apparently they bolt right up with the purchase of a 200 doller kit.. no cutting or anything...

Well i didnt know about the biggest size engine but you can actually fit a 318 or 360 into a 87-90 Dakota though you need to put an electriuc pusher fan in for the radiater though i already knew that but i was askin and lookin for an anser on the gas milage of the specified engine and tranny i posted up

The motor swap wouldnt be to gain mileage, rather power. And it varies a great deal depending on how you tune your carb, how you drive, your elevation, how much you let your truck idle....ect. I would say your going to average about the same regardless of whether its a 318 or 360, just a power issue in the end.

I know it wouldnt be to much of a gain in milage( I say that because the 3.9 is only getting 12 in town and 18 on the highway with the 3 speed auto) and the reason for the swap is because i want more power

You would most likely stay pretty close to those numbers.
