Old thread, but interesting still. My rear bumper looked like hell so I picked up a roll pan for the rear some time ago. I just got a hidden hitch for it as well which gave me an idea for a cleaner looking bumper. Bear in mind that my truck is off-road "lite", so I'm not looking for a heavy duty rear bumper. What I'm thinking about doing is a simple round or square tube with a 2" square that plugs into the hitch. If I need to tow or plug in a hitch platform I could just pull the bumper off.

 

I'm pretty much looking for the same thing though I'd like to use the stock bumper brackets to build off of. I don't think I need d-rings because my Curt hitch has loops on it if I ever need to pull something. Just need something fairly basic that looks decent. No rock crawling here.
