comparing first gen mag rims 15x6 with a 235 75 R15 tire to a second gen mag rim 16x8 with a 325 85 r16 tire. you have seen both in my big effin tires thread

I'm gonna throw out a guess of 40 lbs difference.

Just out of curiosity, what did you decide to do about gearing. Cause I haven't seen anything over 4.10's for the little 7.25 front diff, and you'll need something equal to or numerically greater than a 4.56 (the actual calculation comes out to be 4.65). I just hope the 7.25 can handle the difference!

going to wait for a few more guesses to see who gets the closest

im not sure yet. going with 4.10s would be like driving 33s on stock 3.55 gearing. (slightly heavier than normal 33s). im not sure what it would take to put a 8.25 in the front so i could get 4.56s

SAS!! Naw, just kidding. You should start by looking for a 9.25 inch for the rear! Those tires won't break a 9.25, that 9.25 inch I have is really stout. The bigger brakes will also help stop those monster truck tires. I have no idea whats available for center sections for the front.

....Or, if you did a NV3500 swap, 1st gear is plenty low if you went with 4.10s in the factory diffs :P

why would SAS be bad? dont most offroad trucks convert? im not exactly building something to take a twisty road at high speed lol.
i just realised that the NV3500 is a manual. while i can drive stick very well, i dont want one. i wonder if a ram would have what i need??

Oh, I never said a SAS would be bad, just time consuming. I'd love to do one but I have too many other projects going on and no time (The bumpers and the 360, which I've recently decided to go ahead and make a 408). If you do a SAS, go with Dana 60s front and back for those tires. If you keep the IFS, try to find a 9.25 inch for the rear, cause it's strong and you can keep the current lug pattern. (If you change the axles to something else, you might not be able to keep your wheels, we have an odd lug pattern)

well i could go with 4.88s in the 9.25, that would be just a hair lower ratio than stock. that would be good for a daily driver with some off road use, allthough lower would be better to turn the extra weight. i really want to keep my current rims(love them!). i may have to make something custom for the front to get a better center section :S

Now you're talkin! That sounds like a good plan. If you come up with something custom for the center section, def post it up cause I'm very interested.
