hmm... well i guess you learn new things everyday. my '91 is pre magnum too and has 4 different belts and my '93 is a magnum and only has the serpentine. and i think i know why yours only has the serpentine cuz if you look closely between your pic and 88longbed's, 88longbed's has the air pump and you dont. thats why they made your serpentine is cuz they took out that stupid air pump(from what i can see anyway..)

nope its there..you can barely see it, right behind the rad overfill....that black thing with the hose going to it.....that hose goes to the manifold and then there is another hose that comes out the bottem of that black valve thing that goes to my none existent catalytic converter

Is your 91 a 318? maybe they only had serpentine belts on V8's ?

i still dont know how to get rid of it, i wonder if you can find a idler pully or something that would replace it....

If you look in my picture there is a belt routing sticker....right under the air pump is some sort of tensioner and on the magnum engines the belt goes on the outside not inside.... i dont know if you could make it work or not... i think thats the only big difference atleast..

edit-- found a belt diagram for a 95 ...

http://img21.imageshack.us/my.php?image=beltdiagram.png

looks like pretty much just that belt tensioner thing........ how does that thing work? do i need a diffrent one because the belt has to go on the other side of it?

sounds like everybody is interested in deleting this exhaust air pump. my 88 has exempt emissions sticker, so it won't affect my inspection. i would like to remove that crap from my engine bay entirely, but no one has mentioned how to seal the hoses attached to the pump or anything. I might do some chasing around this week and take some more pics.

so i was doing my weekly top off the fluids and found this new PITA to deal with http://s289.photobucket.com/albums/l...t=CIMG1343.jpg

you can see the top of the bolt that broke off stuck on the exhaust manifold. this tube is the air injection cross over tube that guides air from the pump into the exhaust manifold. i can't say i am really disappointed that it is trying to dissemble itself since i'm slowly removing this crap, but the broken bolt hasn't been much fun so far.

no codes after removing the belt. i haven't made enough plates to do a total removal yet, but more details soon.
