first 4wd clutch repair(help)PLEASE
hav a 94 4wd w/318 lookin for any help/tips any one has-done clutchs b4 but this has double the stuff to undo/take off could really use help to get started and what to watch out for
Start by removing the front and rear driveshafts. Next, unplug everything from and unbolt the transfer case and set it to the side. Next, remove the bracket on both sides that is bolted to the bellhousing, engine, and front axle. Next, remove the starter, then remove the dust sheild. Next, remove the two shifters sticking through the floor, remove the slave cylinder (don't remove the lines from the slave cylinder, its a sealed system that not supposed to be bleedable...it can be bled but its a PITA), and remove all the wires connected to the transmission. Next, support the transmission with a jack and remove the engine block to bellhousing bolts. Slide the transmission away and replace clutch like normal. I think that was about it.

If your chilton book isn't doing you any good, we have the links on this forum for the full factory service manuals (I don't think the '94 is there, but it should be close enough to a '95)...

That manual gave me all the info I needed when I did my automatic to manual transmission swap a couple weeks ago.

LOL, how did I forget that one!! Don't put a wrench near your starter until your battery is unhooked! It throws a very impressive spark if you accidentally ground it out with a wrench.

I knew I was forgetting one more thing... You may have to remove the Y-pipe to get it out of the way of the bellhousing.
Also, all of the bolts are much easier to get to if you unbolt and remove the inner fender wells.

It appears that others are giving you good advice. However, pay particular attention to the replacement clutch you will be installing. I replaced mine about 5K miles ago with a well-known aftermarket unit and now the vehicle shakes when reversing. It works OK in all forward gears. Look particularly at the thickness of the clutch disc of your replacement unit. And, while you're at it, you might also think about a new pilot bearing......... Just a few suggestions.
