Default Need help nameing a gasket

There is a gasket leaking oil behind the pulleys that is laying flat on top of the engine. I have been looking all over but can't get the specific name. Ant ideas...I would be grateful.

I think its the head gasket. The intake and valve cover are on the sides. This leak is looking straight at me. I had just thought the head gasket would be lower.

thanks for the info.

I think you have that bass ackwards. From the top down, the valve cover gasket is first, then the head gasket is below that. The intake manifold gasket is the only one that lays flat across the top of the engine. At least that's the way it is on my V8.

+1 to that, i was just about to say that. you would notice a huge difference in how the truck runs if it was the head gasket. you said its leaking oil? its probably the intake gasket now that i think of it. like 95_318SLT said, a picture would be nice.

and as for the v8 being that way pashadowops, the v6 is the same

Lol, we can sit here all day long and name off gaskets on the engine.... there are a ton of them, but we can't read minds or see what you see without a picture or diagram or something. But like said above, the typical gasket that's notorious on these engines for leaking oil is the plenum gasket.

I don't have a digital camera right now but I thank you for all the help.

It is the plenum gasket. Looks like I got something to do over the weekend.

The plenum gasket is not visible on the outside of the engine. If your plenum is leaking look down the throttle body, look for oil.
