Instead of everybody trying to show off their internet ***** .I think all those that know better should buy the CSR pump and report back with pics .Oh and I am not a student ,I have been building and racing engines for about 28 years .

That right there proves that the electric and mechanical pumps cannot be compared at the same efficiency level. My argument was never against flow rates, it was about efficiency. You can't tell me based on that article that an electric motor is not more efficient because they didn't use a big enough one to compare it to the work output of the mechanical motor. Let's look at the 6 horsepower max gain... that would come out to be 4.47 kW, and I promise you an electrical equivalent would not be close to requiring 4.47 kW of power... over 100 amps @ 14.4 volts.

I don't have numbers based on two equivalent pumps, which is why the first example I gave was for radiator fans, cause they can be much easier compared... but the concept is the same.

So yes, an electric pump flows less, but that does not mean it is not ALSO more efficient.
Fine, you can have your 6HP

I was ASSuming all along the electric pump would need to flow that same as the mechanical pump, and if it did, there would be no gains. That was my whole point.

But why not just run underdrive pulleys? It would give the same benefit with more reliability. I myself will sacrifice a couple HP for better cooling.

I still question why someone would waste their time for 6 peak HP that you won't even notice during 99% of everyday driving, for a bit more money you can get something like HS 1.7 roller rockers which have been a proven 10-15 RWHP gain and certainly have a more broad range and the extra valve lift will actually compliment other mods in the future like forced induction, m1, ecm, headers/exhaust, ect, without sacrificing cooling.

To try and bring this back to being a little more civil... I'll go ahead and admit I agree with you there. On a race car you want every bit of HP you can get... and one thing nice about an electric water pump, fan, etc is that you can turn it off at the starting line for even more of an increase. You can't turn off a mechanical pump, fan etc. On a daily driver, it's not practical... at least not where I live where summer days can hit 100+ deg F and high humidity. I guess if you live where it stays 70* all year round it might work better cause you don't have to worry as much about cooling. Even when I finish my 408 stroker, I'm sticking with a mechanical pumps with underdrive pullies on all of them but the water pump and alt.

But... that being said... I won't back down saying electrical accessories are more efficient.

Okay I have read it all and Pm's were sent. I will unlock it if all that is done is editing to remove the language that is in question. No more new posts in this thread, for Everyone. It will be closed back up when editing has finished.
