That's not exactly true. He can use a hydraulically controlled transmission, and it will function properly, but it will throw a check engine code since the electronic govnernor harness won't be plugged into anything. It would not be ideal, but in a time/budget crunch, it will work like it should. I sold my 46rh to a guy with a '98 Ram and it worked fine for him.

Eh, I kinda figured that. It's not "plug-n-play" (electrical connector for overdrive control is different - 1995 and below is 3 pin, 1996+ is 8 pin).

Ooooh ok. I never thought about the overdrive connector. I was concerned with the governor and throttle valves doing what they were supposed to do.

when asalvage yard scraps out ,look were they take there junk,to the recyclers ,to get money for junk

find a yard thats scraping and see if you can find one ,as soon as it getts to the recycler they charge 20% of what it really cost

go in looking like a bum and ragged and go find yur prise

i have 226000 miles. i found one in indianapolis at a junkyard. but im a little weary about a junkyard part. you never know what your gonna get out of there. but it was only 250 bucks. and its from a 96 3.9 dakota 2wd, so i know it will work. but hopefully its still there.

How many miles are on it and if its still in a dakota how much fluid is left and check it out
