Yeah, I could easily fit 33's, but when I got these tires, the body lift was not on it, so there wasn't as much room in the wheel wells. Actually, I got the body lift to fit the current tires better cause they were rubbing the fenders! But anyway, when these tires wear out, I'll get getting 33s.

It is very easy to crank torsion bars. Fist, park your truck on a very flat surface. Then, take an initial measurement from the ground to some point on the body or frame at each tire. Turn each bar up 1-2 turns at a time by turning the bolt on the key, (I'll get a pictures as soon as the battery on my camera charges :P) and then rock the truck back and forth to re-settle the springs. Once you get it at the height you want it, measure from the ground to the each spot used in the initial measurement to make sure the bars went up evenly, and adjust accordingly. Make sure they are even!!!! Then, take it to an alignment shop cause you've just thrown the alignment waaaaaay off!

oh okay. I looked just under there and i figured out where to turn the keys. Do you turn the bolts in or out?

Could you jack up the front and and do it that way too? Would you still need to settle the springs? And what springs are you talkin about? Sorry for all the questions lol i'm new to trucks.

The tortion bar is basically a big sideways bending(rotating actually) spring. Rocking the truck side to side will set the spring in to its new tention.

You tighten them.

I just did this. Its a 2 on the difficulty. REALLY easy. It took me around 30 minutes. Its a 24 MM. I used a deepwell socket, a 1/2 drive ratchet, and a big freeking wrench as a leverage device. Got rid of my horrible gangster lean from installing the 2wd shackles.

Next up is a 2" body lift.

Then the really crappy search for an NV3500 I can afford(gonna be rough in the midwest).

Yeah, sorry, like said above, the torsion bar is literally a bar of spring steel, and as the lower control arms rotates around their pivot point, it applies a torsional force to the bar, which acts like a spring and pushes the control arm back down.

I think I used a 1 inch socket (or it might have been 1 size bigger, I can't remeber). I cheated though, I used a 1/2 inch drive impact wrench, so it was as easy as pulling the trigger. I was told not to use an impact so I could count the turns, but the impact moved the bolt up slow enough that I could count turns, and honestly it doesn't matter if you turn each bolt the exact same amount because the 2 bars most likely don't have the exact same spring constant.

I would strongly suggest keeping the truck on the ground to crank the bars. You'll want to watch it and measure it as you go up, and there is no way to know if the two sides are going up evenly when the control arms are resting on the bump stops.

yea true.

I understand what a torsion system is. Our quad hauler has torsion axles.

If i raise it an inch or so, should the 31's fit? I just got it and we havent put insurance or anything on it yet so it needs an inspection, should i do this after the inspection? Will it still pass inspection with the bars cranked?

Can i just take it for a drive around the house to settle the springs?

Again, sorry for the questions lol

Yes lifting it an inch should let you fit the 31's. You may have rubbing issues on articulation angles though. My state doesn't do "Inspection" so I don't know what is involved. But my guess is that they won't notice it. But it may throw off your aliment, and they may see it off.
