Im pretty sure your right actually.. but would this even be worth swapping?.. what would I need to make this fit? dont direct me to the FAQ, because that really doesnt have anything for this.
what I need to know is how to fit a LA 318 from a 92, into a 95 dakota with a 3.9 magnum. thanks.

'92 is the first year for the 318 magnums.

I think I'd only buy that if your planning on a rebuild. Judging by the look of the outside of the engine the owner didn't care one bit about it, which means theres no telling what condition its in. Thats my $0.02.

I hope your right ! haha
well, yes I wouldnt mind a rebuild if its the 318 magnum, as My motor is getting a tick to it anyways.
but can you tell me, this says electronics.. so im guessing it comes with the computer. I heard you need the driveshaft.. is this true?
and also what exactly would I need? As I would like to pick this up asap.

You wouldnt need a driveshaft. That has nothing to do with the motor. Youd probably want a heavier transmission.

Electronics "usually" means harness and computer.

Youd have to go look at it to be sure if its an LA or a magnum. I thought 93 was the first year for the magnums, but http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_LA_engine turns out I was wrong.

So technically it could be either depending on if its an "early" 92 or a "late" 92

If its an LA I would pass. I love my mag though.

You should contact the seller and ask about the computer, cause electronics could easily be referring to just the wiring harness. The 5.2 and 3.9 sit the same distance back, so the transmission doesn't move and the driveshafts stay the same length. You will need a 5.2 fan shroud because the 5.2 sits further forward. You'll also need to decide on something to do with the transmission... either rebuild yours with performance clutches and a shift kit, or get the v8 transmission, cause the stock v6 transmission won't last long under the torque that the v8 puts out.

Its a magnum. You can tell from the lack of fuel injectors sticking up out of the throttle body. The 318 magnums came out in '92, the 360 magnums came out in '93.

Ya, I will contact him. well thats good about the driveshaft then., I didnt think it was true. Is there anything I can do with the fan shroud.. as in cut it or anything? Yes, I am totally aware of the transmission.. My truck is automatic.. so cltuch doesnt apply to me, so what else Can I do, can you direct me the right way or links for products that would help me out.. btw, im also wanting to go posi anyways. Or I might even drive it till it blows, then replace for the v8 transmission later, if its costly to rebuild the v6 transmission.. but also thanks so much for the help
