Always nice when a plan comes together the way you wanted it to. YOu have the 2wd built yet?

I have the same option in the jeep, and I might actually get to try it out tomorrow.

Yup, test drove it an hour ago :P Lol, actually I'm still using the frame as a work bench to work on my light bar :P

Sweet! I like having AWD, although it takes some getting used to. The truck really want's to pull straight when your on the gas, so going around a corner on the gas can feel weird.

my buddy just bought a jeep4.0L with the auto tranny and 242 still on , what all did you have to do to make the 242 work in your truck, i have a 94 4x4 auto.
im thinking of buying the 242 from him.

Everything I had to do to make it fit is in this thread...

But here is the short list:
1) Input shaft to fit your transmission
2) Shift lever to work with the Dodge shift assembly (I'll sell you mine if you don't want to have one custom made)
3) You need to modify the shift rod to throw far enough for the added 5th selection
4) You need a Jeep GC slip yoke and crossover u-joint to fit your driveshaft

*Note: You may need a new driveshaft if the length turns out not to work.

Wow I think the dakota I just test drove had the 242D its 4x4 but had ask the options your 242j has man now I have to buy the truck!
