Yep NEPA.

When I first got the truck 3 years ago the exhaust was welded so it must be legal since it passed inspection back than. What is cool is that the dealership didn't charge me for the diagnostic inspection so im guessing they felt bad.

The last time I went to Harrys U Pull it they only had one dodge dakota and about 200 fords.

no help there

Wow, $49 for an inspection. I'm never moving to PA! Even a full inspection in NC costs $30, mine cost $8 or $9 (I can't remember which) because its OBDI and they don't do emissions on them anymore, just safety.

I sure hope you get it figured out!

PA is every year, $20 for the safety inspection which SHOULD (I say should because there are some places that'll just slap a sticker on) include checking lights, horn, glass, tires, brakes, body panels for rust into the cabin, exhaust, leaks (mainly fuel), suspension and driveline components.

Some counties require Emissions Testing which can vary by county also I'm in Erie and for $30 they basically do a visual check of emissions components to make sure they are all there and pressure test the gas cap.

Wow, I'm in West Texas - we pay $14.50 for our yearly inspection - no smog check required at all. Windshield has to have enough clear glass to see directly in front of you, and to apply the stickers to. Exhaust leaks, tire tread, light bulbs all good, and brakes / parking brake. that's it - all that's required. My father was a lisc'd inspector for over 10 years....

I'm of mixed opinions about it, usually something needs to be replaced and it's not cheap where I'm at ~$50. However for the most part you can be fairly sure that most of the vehicles on the road are structurally sound.

Dude I was raised in Harborcreek I know exactly what you're saying about the inspection and the sad part is you pay for it pass or fail.

$49 is cheap..I usually spend $70 per car. Fortunately all four are just the basic safety inspection and by law they have to test the gas cap for emissions. They never tested for emissions until 2001 I think. Inspection used to cost like $17 unlike the great state of NJ where it was FREE!!!!! If I could afford to live there again....ahhh dare to dream. I still can't figure out how the state government places the responsibility of inspection with the very people that try to rape the consumer at every turn. Not saying that all mechanics are crooks but...
