My Official Solid Axle Swap Thread (The Discussion Thread)
I don't want to clutter Brians thread with my junk but you can see them here http://www.dakota-durango.com/forum/...d.php?t=127347
Lol, it wouldn't bother me. The reason I started the other thread for my write up is cause this one already got cluttered. At this point you may as well hold nothing back!! :P
Found a 14bff for my junk with 4.56s, I'm gonna go 5.38 so I can sell the 4.56s/ Hopefully pick it up tomorrow. Looking around it looks like a D60 is gonna set me back a grand, good thing 14bs are cheap!
Nothing for Daks on craigslist right now, gotta be a V8 5 speed, if it's 2wd I'll build my current dak and if it's 4x4 I'll use it.
And mandatory pic whoring of my current trail rig

Funny you should ask, I was gonna ask if you wanted them.. $100 shipped reasonalbe? They're factory gears, not thick cut, so you need a 4.56-up carrier for them...
What disc brake kit did you use? I'm going disc too, I tossed all the drum stuff in the garbage..
14 bolts of corporate beef.

Hi all,
Awesome job on that truck!
I have a 93 Dakota that I'd like to put a solid axle under. But I want to use leafs for the front.
I have a few questions though:
1. besides the ford axles which other axles have the drivers side drop?
(I know that post 1979 Full size Jeeps Wagoneers have them)
2. You said that you bought the ford f250 front axle. In your opinion would that be a good choice for leaf front end on the Dakota? (I was thinking that it might be nice to find something that didn't have the leaf mounts on it so that I could put my own on where I want it.)
Based on your experiences with the rearend what would you recommend as a possible method for locating front springs?
Any help is appreciated!
And oh yeah, have you made any more progress?
Thanks,
Brihno
