heres a tip guys. if your going to remove the pan for any reason, disconnect the upper line from the rad. put a hose over it and run that into a pan that holds just over 4 liters (4 quarts). start the truck and put it in neutral for about a minute until all the fluid is pumped out. shut it off, replace the line then remove your tranny pan. you don't have to deal with a pan full of fluid especially if your working in the yard. just make sure you don't keep running the engine after all the fluid is out.

That is a good tip Mazda, but I wouldn't dare it. Just get $7 for a transmission drain plug. easy to install. Takes all the mess out of it. That is what I did. And to replace the fluid in the lines, just disconnect it and run a air hose to it, to flush out all the dirty fluid in the line.

doesn't hurt it crazy. did at least once a year for 7 years and never had a problem. i did it that way to replace all 12 liters. disconnect, drain fill, disconnect, drain fill, etc.

i did switch to a $5 walmart hand pump that went down the filler tube the last few times.

did not know you could by a drain plug for it. can you use that plug to replace the plastic one in the differential?

Yes you can use it on the diff. But to replace it you probably will have to weld in plug to cover the large hole. But the diff cover plug is also the fill in. And the fluid lever marker. I would say just leave it.

Yea... so you really need to check that fluid level.
Unless, you know, you want to burn up clutches and replace a transmission because you didn't check fluid level... not my $$!
