Default dodge is sick...need help ASAP

drove it all AM. worked fine.. tugged a full size van that was in the snow. Had it to the rug. let off. stalled.. thats normal for my truck...

towed the van to tow. not a hi-cup.

Had to boost a car... (ONLY THING AB NORMAL I DID)

drove it home 15 min. ran great.

went in the house for 5 min.

Came out. Hit the key fired. died.... weird...

and it kept doing that . hit the key. fire. die... UNLESS i put it to the rug then it will fire and run. peddling the gas. drop it in drive. and took it for a good hard rip down the road like 1/2 mile max i SWEAR it was faster than normal.

stopped. idled fine... turned around. drove it back that 1/2 mile. stopped. turned it off. fired it up. same die. fire. die fire...

THOUGHTS?

I'd start by replacing the IAC.

Well the IAC is the "Idle Air Controller." It has a motor in it that opens and closes a valve to control the airflow when the butterfly valves are closed. They are a very common thing to get stuck and if they get stuck when they aren't opened up very far, it will do what you described your truck doing.

If the IAC isn't the cause have the battery load tested, I've had 3 Dakotas do exactly the same thing when the battery was dieing.

Cool! Glad you got it fixed. One comment though... don't be surprised if it dies quickly depending on where you got it from. I had to go through 3 of them before I finally got one that worked for more than a week! Just keep the reciept in case you need to warrenty it out.
