Question Brief grinding noise with acceleration!?!?

I've been lurking on the forum for a while now. Excellent resource!

Yesterday I was driving my '94 Dakota (SLT 2wd 5.2L automatic transmission) and when I accelerated quickly from a stop, there was a brief (2-3 seconds) grinding/whining noise that was pretty loud and sounded like it was coming from somewhere in the front of the truck. The actual shifting still felt smooth, so I am hoping that it is not the tranny. Also, when I accelerate normally the sound is not there. I did just have to have the radiator replaced about a week ago. Any chance it could be related to something they did with that?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Tons of possibilities. Start by checking where exactly it is coming from. At may just be a pulley rubbing or an internal engine problem.

I'll see what I can figure out. I can't recreate the noise with the truck parked.

If you have to have someone drive it in an empty lot while your listing for it outside or in another car or something.
