I will move this into the 1st Generation Dakota Sub-Forum. When It stalls, is it Idle? If so it may be the IAC.

We really need more info than that. It could be a bad IAC, MAPS, TPS, ECTS, o2S, a vacuum leak, a power problem. Sorry, can't narrow it down based on your description of the problem!

sryy for the lack of info. the stalling mostley accurs right after i start it up. it revs up and gradualy dies down, sometimes it will happen when i put it in gear.

Sounds like the IAC (idle air controller). This is located at the back of the throttle body and is held in by 2 torx screws. It is a motor driven valve that controls airflow when the butterflies are closed and they are notorious for freezing up. Basically, if it freezes up while barely open, it chokes the engine at idle.

Very easy, like I said there are only 2 torx screws holding it in. Unplug it, unbolt it, bolt in the new one, plug it in. Done. No gasket.

Just buy a new one. It installs only 1 way. Just make sure you put the wire connector on the same side as before.
