You may want to post up picture, your price, a full description of the truck. Also post in our classifieds section as well as www.craigslist.org

Now this is sad. I was trying to figure out today how long it had been since I last messed with my Dakota. Then while going through some old posts, I found it. Over 3 years ago. Wow. Hasn't been registered since Feb 2008.

Well I parked it sometime back and noticed that the row of pines where I had it parked had grown right up next to the drivers side, beginning to make it difficult to get in. So I found the keys and gave them to my 3 yr old son and we went to see if we could start it.

I grabbed a fresh Co-op 34/78DT battery (850 cca's should spin that baby over, right?), some basic hand tools and a can of carb cleaner.

I found the door jambs and underhood was coated with piles of those aisin beetles (everyone calls them ladybugs). After several minutes of pumping carb cleaner in to get it to stay running long enough to draw fuel , she ran and ran pretty good.

The old Dak was blowing blue smoke out the tailpipe plus the engine was burning off coated oil. Both cleared up after a few minutes. I went to pull the truck around to the front of the shop and found the trans was slipping some. Also went to stop and the brake pedal just goes to the floor. Fluids full so that is kinda new to me.

So the good news to all this jibber-jabber is I'm going to do some tinkering and see about getting her cleaned up and running again. I sure like the old truck.

Fix brakes
Rebuild engine
Rebuild trans
Find better gears (at least 3.55's)
Install a new dash (the sun has ruined this one bad)

I'm sure there are tons of other things I'll find to do.
