Default 4" lift for a 4X2

93 Dakota 2wd V8........I know there is a kit for a 2" lift. How would you lift it 4 inches? Are there more disadvantages for lifting it 4 inches rather than 2" (Ride comfort, suspension)?

Anybody got a picture of a 2 or more inch lift kit on their 2wd dakota?

You can't go more than 2 inches with the suspension. In the back, the sky is the limit, but on the front you can only stuff about 2 inches worth of coil spacers in there. Since you already have a v8, you can't go with heavier coils. The only way you can get 4 inches is to do a 2 inch body lift and 2 inch suspension lift.

When you did a 2" body lift. What else did you have to change? steering column? Any of that stuffs. Was it fairly easy for you?

You can use the 2in body kit. It says only for 4wd, but It will work for 2wd. All you need to do is cut in a 1 inch spacer for you steering shaft.

For 4wd and 2wd you need to cut and weld in a spacer into the shift linkage. And make some brackets to lower the fan shroud. And to re-drill the bumper brackets to move them up to the body's level.

Oh so all your saying is the steering shaft will be to short to reach afterwards and I'll need to fill in the gap? Did you notice a big difference in height with a 2"?

Sorry for being so dumb, but I did my research on my ZJ before I did the lift on it. Now I wanna do something to my truck. I feel like my bawlz are dragging on the ground when I drive it.

Ya the steering shaft will be to short. So you will need to extend it. Just cut and add in a spacer to make it longer.

Yes there is a big difference with the lift on. It is worth it. Easy to install. Cheep. Most places have them for under $100. www.summitracing.com
