So, I remember taking apart my rear brakes, and putting the new hardware on.
And, in the new hardware, there were these clips (arrow pointing to them), but there were no old clips.

What are they?

 

Retainer clips for nothing inside the drum. Maybe they thought you were going to remove the e-brake cable. There is a clip for that further up on the frame.

 

Yea, those aren't the right size for the e-brake retainer clips.

 

They look like wisdom teeth. :P

Seriously though... have you checked page 93 of the parts manual? It almost looks like the part labled 41.

 

Actually, I did see them there.
It's just funny, that, when I change my vehicle to a Dodge Ram Van/Wagon, on the hardware packages for the 11" brakes, it doesn't seem to show the clips. (Plus, it lists different part numbers) Which disproved my theory that the only reason they were there was so they didn't have to make a separate part number, for a package without those clips.

But I'm off NAPA and the dealer. Need some parking brake stuff. Fun fun!!

 

If I remember it is the clip that goes on that pin you have to press on the shoes, for the e-brake.

 

i got the large 10 inchers on the rear and they are for the parking brake arm that attaches to the rear shoe. i don't know if they work for the 9 inchers but the kits had parts for both and i had extra parts but those clips where not some of the leftovers. i think the lower spring that joins the bottom of the shoes was different also and the kit had both types.

 

They look like the retainers for the pins.

 

yep. put the lever in the rear shoe and tap that clip on the outside to hold it in place. do it before you attach the shoes to the backing plate.
