Speed sensor?

Speed sensor?
While driving home today check engine light came on and my speedometer, mileage and trip quit working. Then started stalling when I come to a stop but starts right back up. All of these started at the same time. Does this sound like the speed sensor and if it does how do I replace it? I bought a repair manual but it doesn't cover it in the book.

No it does not have a cable for your year. OEM part number is
5234 422.
When searched on www.autozone.com nothing came up for speed sensor. But a cross reference with the OEM number comes up this sensor. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/cat...e+Speed+Sensor
And I have no clue what you are talking about a magnets and collars.
Edit: Napa had these. The first 2 are what you would need. Depends on which you want to pay for. They are the same just different manufactures.

The speed sensor is very easy to replace. Count the teeth on the sensor pinion gear. There are numbers written in the 3, 6, 9, ad 12 oclock postions on the sensor... find the number range that the teeth count falls into, and turn the sensor so that that number range is at the 6 oclock position (facing the ground) and bolt down the holder.
I could see where a bad speed sensor would cause an issue coming down to idle. Without the speed sensor working, the computer doesn't know when to have the IAC take over.
I never realized this until I did the manual transmission swap, but when I am coming to a stop, if I throw it in neutral, the IAC holds the engine up to around 1000 rpms and as soon as the vehicle stops moving, drops it down to 600 or so... so obviously, the speed sensor does have input for controlling the IAC.
