i didn't want to cut the firewall open for the back 2 cylinders on a 6bt. That would have been even more work, and I don't think the stock torsion bars would have liked that much more weight. It's a little mushy with the 4bt but not bad.
You don't have to cut the firewall to fit a 6BT . . . . .
where do you find the room to fit the other 2 cylinders?? without modifying the firewall or rad support?? and without running a custom rad and intercooler setup, i had to put my intercooler in the bumper because I don't have anyroom behind the grill. plus, think about how much more weight is going to be forward of the front wheels without setting the engine back into the firewall. It could be done, but I wouldn't want to do it.
I never said you didn't have to modify the Rad. support. I did modify my rad. support, but I didn't modify the firewall at all. I did use a custom radiator because I wanted the size of a Dakota rad. with the cooling capacity of the Cummins rad. and that is what I bought and have never had a cooling issue even while driving in a parade.
your truck is the lifted 2nd gen with a solid axle and leaf sprung front right?? The 2nd gens have way more room in the engine bay compared to my style of dakota.
i looked at all of your pics for the 4bt but i would love to have the spec.s and a step by step b/c i really want to do this in about a year after i have the cash saved up to get it all done at one time
