You have 2 engine coolant temp sensors, so it sounds like they are both bad.

There is a 1 wire sensor that controls the gauge and there is a 2 wire sensor that gives input to the computer.

They are both behind the accessory bracket at the top, front of the intake manifold next to the upper radiator hose.

Its weird that they'd both go out at the same time though! You may want to replace the thermostat while you're at it and flush the cooling system.

This is the best I can offer...

I can't take a picture of my truck cause I have a different intake manifold on it and had to drill and tap one of the holes myself, so it won't look exactly like yours.

i just replaced the one infront of the intake sunday morning...it was a pita cuz of the over crowding issue with wires and such but the pcm controlled sensor is (almost) right behind the ac and the 1 wire sensor is right behind the alt. here is the 1 wire sensor(the bottom circle)

and here is the diagram showing both of them (green being the other one)

For the 2wd, you can get coil spring spacers for the front (up to 2 inches total), longer shackles for the rear, and a 2 inch body lift. Thats about it.

The best place to get a replacement truck bed would be a junkyard or check craigslist for people parting out these trucks near you.

That really depends. If you have access to a rolling 4x4 frame with transmission, transfer case, and wiring harness, and you really want a 4x4, then yes, its worth it.

Otherwise, I don't think it is.
