I had an idle prob in my first Dak turned out to be the pulse ring in the distributor. One hour and 4 drops of super glue fixed the old girl right up!

the one on the left is the 2 wire that i have hooked up
and the right is the 1 wire sensor

this is the 2 wire connector i'm referring to. I apologize for the blurriness but the connector resembles the 1 wire connector
and it shows up in the wiring diagram as the engine coolant temp sensor

The Top one is a Intake Manifold Air Temperature Sensor. This is NOT a coolant sensor.

The lower one is the Engine Coolant Temperature sending unit. This is the 1 wire sensor. This controls ONLY the guage.

The one your missing is on the other side of the Thermostat. Check out this other pic.

The one with the GREEN Arrow is the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor. This is the 2 wire one. This is read by the Computer ONLY. This is where the 2 wire connector you were pointing to in your other picture belongs to.

Well, Crazy beat me to it, but thanks for the picture... it clears everything up! Like he said, you circled the IAT sensor.

So mystery solved, you NEED to replace that connector so you can hook up your ECT sensor thats supposed to be hooked to the computer. That should fix your running problem!

Lol, actually, in my time zone his post was at 2:20 am, which means in his time zone he posted it at 12:20 am.

But I think he mentioned once that he works swing shift.

I hear you 100%! I'm nowhere near seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for my solid axle swap, but I miss driving my truck!!

With any luck (and if I can get my stupid welder fixed), I'll at least have my truck off jackstands by next weekend.
