Default Hey thanks for getting back to me.

Ok the power is reaching the switch exactly like it should i think 8.88 to the orange/white stripe wire. 11.96 to the black orange wire, 11.96 to the blue wire. But the top of the switch orange and black are getting a .04 (maybe they are for the lights and since I didnt turn on the lights I am getting no reading) Now where is the other end of the switch so I can test it? or is this the other end the back side? I have a pic ill post to this listing.

OK I just retested the pin 10 with the power on and 20 DC and I got a 8.88 reading this was before I had someone press the switch and after someone pressed the switch the reading was the same... But with the power on the truck and pressing the switch on or off changed nothing with the output to the silenoid switch .. Bay 54-55 still showing .04 no matter if switch is pressed or not.

Hmmm. That sounds odd. I would think it should be closer to 12 volts to pin 10.

The one thing I'm not sure of is when the switch is "on" and when it is "off". In other words, is the computer supposed to see voltage at pin 10 when the switch is on and no voltage at pin 10 when it is off or vise versa.

My theory is when the switch is in the Overdrive Off position, the switch is closed and pin 10 should read a certain voltage. The reason I think its that way is because the computer grounds the connection and that would turn the light on. IIRC, the light is on when OD is off?

yeah with mine no light..Cant tell when the light is on or off or switch is on or off.. It does have a 8.88 reading constant if you press switch on or off. Also I may be imagining this but it does the same thing the switch does in the cab meaning when you press it it drops from the 8.88 reading to lower readings then climbs back up to 8.88 i dont know if that is my volt meter or the thing itself. I am totally lost when it comes to this and wish I knew more... If you say it is supposed to have a reading only half the time and it is showing the reading all the time maybe what could be the problem? I am baffled.

I was hoping to find some burnt wires and now it looks like that wont be the case...I wish I could figure this out ..

Also I took out 6 different switches from 6 different dodge dakotas from the junk yard.. All are from the same year.. Tried all of them and had the same result. No light , nothing. When you press it you can hear the spring inside click but the button doesnt recess or seem like it is working at all. It is hard to believe all 6 trucks had a bad switch right?

ahhh bro this is the chinese stuff..I am totally dumb when it comes to this.. My friend I gave a rockola jukebox to looked at the original 1966 diagram and made sense of it in secs... He figured out what wires were crossed and fixed it... I may have to ask him to help me with this possibly because I have no clue where to even start.... He has a root canal tomorrow maybe I can go sneak over there while he is still numb and try to con him into helping me. LOL I dunno what else to do...I am stumped.

You said the 10 pin should be closed at some point but its always giving a constant 8.88 reading and is supposed to be closer to 12 .. I agree everything should be closer to 12 volts... I called the kid I bought the truck from and he was no help .. I have to think him putting the wire in place of the O/D fuse had something to do with this... I imagine the problem with the radio and the o/d problem are one in the same issue... I looked at his shabby wiring and all the wires go back to where they are supposed to on the radio.. Didnt see any cut wires or otherwise anywhere else. I wish I went to ivy tech now....dangit.

I will see what I can learn through this.

Ok... the longer I stare at this diagram the better I understand it.

First off, I was wrong about pin 37.

Power comes from Fuse 16 (its a 5 amp fuse). When the switch is open, pin 37 provides the ground necessary to turn on the OD Off lamp. When the switch is closed, pin 10 provides the ground path and OD is allowed and the lamp is turned off.

So, I think you need to be looking at the wires coming off Fuse 16 in the fuse box. It looks like it also powers the buzzer... so does your buzzer work?

Yeah the buzzer works when you open the door but sounds funny sometimes.. It makes a higher pitch and lower pitch buzzing sound..Also the fuse 16 is the one where he stuck wire in , instead of buying a 50 cent fuse..Gotta love those 18 yr old kids these days...Ill tear it back appart in the morning and let you know what I find...Is there any tests I should do on the wire coming from 16? I checked it the other day with a test bulb and it lit up . The fuse I put in there is still good....

Default Ok ok

The switch diagram is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!! now I wont go crazy ... Ill figure out what wires I tested and reply back..

As for now I tested all the wires on the switch....Orange/White was 8.88(when its supposed to be 11.96 like the rest right?) two were 11.96 and two gave off .04 one bay was empty with no wire...

there is 6 bays total...

Let me go to the truck..I wanna drop the fuse panel and try to get lucky and find something maybe I missed.. Be back in 20
