The 5.2 to 5.9 swap could not be easier. You need a bare minimum of a 5.9L short block, weighted flex plate and PCM. Your current motor mounts, wiring harness, heads, intake, oil pan, accessory bracket, etc. will all swap over. If you get a complete 5.9L, you may still need your intake manifold and oil pan depending on what it comes out of.

As far as where to look, any Dodge truck or Jeep GC with a 5.9 in it from '93 until they quit making them will work.

As far as the transmission, no upgrades are needed as the 46rh came behind 5.9s from the factory.

Suspension mods are also not neccessary because the 5.2L and 5.9L are the same engine from a size and weight perspective... only the internals are different.

Check the faq2 page for lift stuff.

I was told by a friend that you can swap the heads off a 5.9 onto the 5.2. But have to make sure your clearances are in spec. He says he can do it to mine no problem. Question is, is this something I wanna see at someone elses expense? It would be free if I let him. IDK

Yes you can. But droping in the 5.9 will add in more power then just the heads alone.

If you are talking about building a 408 and putting in 1.7RR with a factory cam... don't! That would pretty much be a waste of money. You can get more power out of a 360 with a big cam than you can with a 408 and factory cam. Keep in mind that the heads/cam/valvetrain are what makes and breaks an engine!
