popped a seal on the motor
i drove from west bend to milwaukee today, being about 90degrees today i think my truck overheated and when i got home the truck started shaking real bad(unrealated i believe, but worth mentioning) had a lack of power and it felt like i had flat tires. after the truck had cooled down i went underneith only to find i had 1 bad body mount and the flywheel was coated in oil and part of the seal(rear main seal i think it is) hanging out.
could any of these symptoms be related at all.
the overheating was caused from a leaking radiator, i'm sure.
but as for the shaking i checked the u-joints and such nothing had play in it.

The shaking could have been the clutch chattering from having oil all over the flywheel! If you think there is oil on your clutch plate, you may want to get a new clutch plate. And lots of cans of brake cleaner to clean the flywheel and pressure plate.
No, coolant won't come out that seal. If you have coolant in your oil, you have a cracked block or blown head gasket.
That seal isn't hard to replace once you get the oil pan off. I'm not real sure how easy it is to get the oil pan off on a 2wd though. If you have the extra money, go ahead and put an oil pump in it! Its one of those things that you should just replace while you're in there.
But once the oil pan is off, you need to remove the rear bearing cap, and then push the old seal out and put the new seal in. Put some oil or grease or something on the new seal before you slide it in there... especially on the crankshaft contact surface of the seal. Also, if you offset the two seal halves about 1/4 inch, it will seal better!

sounds like a weekend project...lol i was wondering about the coolant because it too is dripping down the back of the motor but it isn't mixed with the oil, maybe the heater core.
To remove the oil pan you just have to take the 2 bolts out of the motor mount and jack up the motor from the crank shaft pully

yeah, i read that in my haynes manual... i'll probly just lift the motor out and do it and clean the motor off while its out...
crap! i did the clutch and everything and the seal slipped my mind. but when i pulled the trans off the only thing on the clutch plate side of the flywheel was grease. but damn i can't believe i forgot that seal!
