I took a look that the rear tail gate and poked around with a screwdriver to see if there where any soft spots, there was one so I opted to just leave that project alone. I will tell you that the way i would have gone about it is with a wire wheel on a drill to remove the paint and most of the rust. after that I use Self Etching primer (you can use this as your only primer if the metal is straight enough, but more often than not i use it as a base befor i do my mudd work if you use it in this method make sure that the metal has a good surface for the mudd to stick to i use 36 grit, then the self etch, mudd, reg primer, etc..) if you have questions ask away but i will tell you that body work is like welding, you cant really teach it you just have to do it.
