Default Seafoam? Why and is it worth it?

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question about "The Seafoam Treatment". What is it? Why do it? is it worth it?

I've heard things from it makes the vehicle run amazingly well afterward to it's nothing more than a flashy way of making all kinds of smoke...

just wondering!

It helps clean out your system. Try using the search tool at the top. you will find a lot more results. A lot of ppl love it. I used it a while back and found no pros or cons to it but in my friends truck it did seem to idle smoother after using seafoam.

i've used it before and it worked well. the vacuum line they refer to on the bottle is the one going to the brake booster. just put some in the gas tank some in teh oil and some in that vacuum line and it'll work well... might stall out with the vacuum line but its perfectly normal, i used it right before each oil change.

I've used it before. I also didn't see any pros or cons, but I used it after putting the wrong weight oil in (always check close to see what weight oil it is! Never trust that because its in the 10w-30 spot on the shelf that it is actually 10w-30). Anyway, the oil I put in was like 5w-20 or some crap and it was burning a lot of it so I wanted to clean out the upper cylinders. Cleaned it out, put the right weight in, and all was good again. Doesn't burn any more like normal.

But a word of advise... pull your o2 sensor before you use the stuff or you'll be replacing it. That stuff is murder on an o2 sensor.

It works great for clearing out carbon build up. My buddy bought a 4.0 Ranger that was babied all it's life so it had a lot of carbon build up and pinged very badly, we treated it with about a half a can of SeaFoam and it's ran fantastic ever since (he also drives the **** out of it and keeps future carbon build up at bay)!

I ran some though my truck a while ago just because, noticed a smoother idle and slightly better throttle response.

Ah that might be why my O2 sensor is messed up, I didn't use seafoam but I do like to spray some throttle body cleaner down my intake every once in awhile to clean things out. Story is, last week my one mechanic had hooked his computer to my truck to see why the check engine light was on and it threw an error code saying that there was moisture in the O2 sensor connections, but after cleaning the connections out it didn't fix it, after that tried cleaning the connections to the computer itself and still no help. After that tried clearing my trucks computer using his computer and still didn't work. I'm probably gonna have to get another plug FYI the check engine light used to come on every so often but after the engine swap it now comes on less then 5 minutes after u first start driving.

I did it. Didnt seem to make much of a difference for me. However I did it on the side of the road and I had a cop pull over 'cause he thought my truck was on fire, lol. Wish I'd of known about the O2 sensor pull. Oops. That was years ago though and I havent had any O2 sensor problems.
