Crap man. Thats the chits. Although, a replacement motor is only about $400 and a weekend away. I bent a rod last summer early and found a cheap replacment and plopped it in over a weekend.

What else would you be doing with the truck while your gone? Doesn't hurt anything to sit on it.

That's why you have to do a brake in period, and take it slow.

I was going to say when I read how hard you were driving it, it sounded excessive for a new / rebuilt engine.

I guess just fix it when you get back!

Damn. Guess I didn't know the story behind the story. New or rebuilt motor in there?

How many miles since you put it in? And shop behind the work who could possibly warranty it? I assume a 5.2?

Aww, no. There is one cheaper. There has to be. I paid like $425 for mine and it had only 60,000 miles on it! Was from a rollover.

how much to rebuild the top end? Wouldn't the bottom end still be fine?

LOL! He said he threw a rod... I don't think the bottom end is fine!

And Auron... like everyone else is saying... there is a break-in period when you put new parts in a motor. Take it easy on the motor for about 2,000 miles with some good break-in oil and then change the oil after that 2000 mile break in period.
