2 oil cap?? which one to fill?

Talking 2 oil cap?? which one to fill?

Hi, i got a new 4x4 Dodge Dakota 1992 5.2 318 magnum efi.

I was about to made my oil change,and i figured out that a got 2 place to put oil on, 2 oil cap???

I very newbie, but i want to make sure i dont damage my 6truck, can somebody tell me which one its the correct one..

Hmm, my truck only has one on the left bank... but since you have two, pick one. Or pour half the oil in one and the other half in the other. You really can't mess it up!

Ya my 93 5.2 had 2 as well. It doesn't matter which you pour it into.

Yep, don't matter...they both go the same place. I wondered about this and decided they engineered it with 2 filler caps to make service easier...between the 2, one has got to provide easier access depending on whether you're a rightie or leftie.

I'm pretty sure someone did that, I doubt it came that way from the factory.

Yes they did come stock! Most likely it is due to them using the exact same valve cover on both sides, which saves time/money by not having to mass produce a 2nd one. But in the long run it takes more money to produce more caps. 2 per engine vs 1 per engine, so that is why they probably just went back to 1 per engine.

I wish I keeped the passenger side one from my 5.2 to put on the 5.9. The driver side has the heater hose in the way.

If I can find a pic my my 93 manual I will post it up.

I went to the boneyard today and was looking for an oil cap. a lot of them had the 2 cap design.

Mine is stock with two caps, one on each bank.

Hi, well i think its true, some model come with 2 cap..

btw my oil change was 50/50 on each side and everything is ok , so thank a lot to you guys!
