Default A few transmission / V6 related questions

Okay now I am replacing my throwout bearing and need to pull my transmission all seems pretty straight forward except for one thing (dumb question incoming!) Where the hell is the engine timing sensor lol and any thing I should be aware of when removing it?

Has anyone installed the Harland sharp rocker arms in a V6? wondering if I would see decent gains with these mods:

Ported and polished throttle body
opened up intake or a K & N haven't decided what one yet
kegger mod
electric fan
and the rockers

anyone know what kind of gains to expect?

also for those who read my last post the Nuts on the transfer case top come out nice with a stubby ratcheting wrench.

Thanks

Nathyne

Edit: Also forgot does anyone know if the stock alternator will handle dual batteries? I picked up the diode to run them today.

I guessing your talking about the crankshaft position sensor. It is on the right side of the engine at the back where the transmission bolt up to the engine.

As for the performance parts my guess all together would give you a good increase. As for a number 20hp maybe. Again a V8 TB will be best!

I love the ratcheting wrenches. I got the pivoting ones.

The stock alternator will be okay with the Dual batteries. The only thing you would want to worry about is what kind of load are the the system is going to see. Like a winch ect. Then you want to worry about the alternator.

Okay sweet that is like a 10% gain! Okay I'll upgrade my alternator before I get a winch then thanks.

Just had an oops with my transfer case pressing out the input bearing caught the edge of the housing and cracked it before I noticed hope I can find a new one. Guess I'll invest in some proper press hats are they? not too sure of the technical term lol

I am having some problems getting my transmission out I removed all the bolts and can't seem to slide it back more than about 1 inch away from the engine the shifter and everything is removed wondering if there is any tricks to getting it out? My car I had to release a bearing to slide the transmission out do I need to do anything like that for this truck? doesn't mention it in the haynes manual.

Is it hitting the firewall? As long as the starter, brackets, and all bolts are out, there is nothing else stopping it.

brackets? what brackets I unbolted it from two one on either side I assume these are the ones? don't understand how it could hit them though. Also taking this apart these bolts are scary 2 were missing one was shortened using washers so it would work... makes me happy I am fixing it. Does a list exist of the proper bolts to use? or should I just buy a wackload and see what works haha. Also have some hackjob wiring going on everything is coated in hockey tape in the engine compartment... serveral loose plugs and a few cut wires makes me wonder. I should just find a new wiring harness for it...

There are two black brackets that bolt to the transmission bellhousing, engine block, and front axle... one on each side. These need to be removed. The starter needs to be removed. Did you get the bolt behind the oil pump? Cause the oil pump has to be taken off to get that bolt out. But after the two brackets, starter, and all bolts are out, the only thing still in the way of getting the transmission out is the firewall... especially if you don't have a body lift. I remember the first time I pulled the transmission on my truck the firewall was a nightmare to get past!!!!

Oil pump? I removed the oil filter to get a few bolts out. I'll remove the brackets tonight and give it a shot again
