Default U-Joints

How hard is it to replace worn U-Joints? My 2wd, front, U-Joint is going bad. Is it pretty easy with the right tools?

Not hard at all, hit up Advance or Autozone and rent the tool it'll have instructions inside on how to press them out.

I used a big hammer to remove them, worked great.

+1. All you need is some sockets and a BFH.

Actually it was 95_318SLT that told me to use the BFH. Worked great. Just make sure when you put the new u-joint in that you get all the needle bearings to seat properly before you tap everything back together.

yeah im gonna have my dad help me, he said its a piece of cake and he has the tools lol. all i have is a craftsman set and a jack

some hand tools a swing arm press (hammer ) and jack are all you need. As your dad said it is a piece of cake.

i went the bfh way when i did mine. ended up breaking the concrete under the driveshaft...lol

Most driveshaft/driveline shops will press 'em out and put new ones in for like $10 each, if you buy the U-joints through their shop. I like BFH's, but would rather fish than do some stuff myself.

haha figured that out lol. and my dad took a big chunck of cement out with the "BFH" lol. Works good now, I just need to replace the bearing in the rear of the tranny.....any one know what thats called?
