Also, you may want to get shocks too before you try adding anything extra. Yours look like they have lead a long life. How are your brake lines? That rear one looks awfully crusty. Not trying to be a jerk. I'm just promoting safety and general maintenance before you "get the thing sideways and out of control".

Pinkfloyeffect The hose is the rear axle vent. It just needs to be tied up with it extended up. Don't plug the hose. Also you got the Chrysler 7.25 axle.
Can they be mounted in front of the axle too?

Looks like a leaky Chrysler 7.25 - What axles did they come with is the 7.25 the least favorable?

Shocks and shackles will be replaced this spring for sure the truck is boaty. Those brake lines I will probably redo as well because a few years ago they let go and the truck hit a telephone pole (not me) then my grandfather repaired the brake lines probably half assed.
