Default Rear sway bar mounting 89 Dakota

I bought the bar used, no instructions, not exactly sure where the mounting points are. Anyone got pics of one that they have installed?

It depends on the anti-sway bar kit. From factory the rear never came with them. You can buy some from www.jcw.com

Here are some quick Google pics. www.google.com is always you friend.

My 88' probably didn't have a sway bar from the factory did it? If not, and I purchased one, are they available for the front too?

junk yards are full of dakotas with front sway bars....only one thing to watch out for, the large L brackets that bolt to the insides of the frame are not all the same, there are 2 bolt patterns, and if you get the wrong ones, you will have to drill a few holes ....
Some of them also have a crossmember bolted between the L brackets, for a little extra stiffening, I guess...

Is it worth buying new aftermarket sway bars or are they the same OEM thing I will find in the junkyard? Either way I have got to do something before I die when this thing gets going sideways it's almost impossible to stop the body roll when I'm out of control.

OEM bars are a bit on the small side, and earlier axles don't have the mounts for them, hence the ubolts around the axles....use Ford Ranger and Explorer strap type ubolts and bushing mounts, get them from same side (drivers side, IIRC) of 2 trucks, as one side rides the pumpkin flange and will fit sloppy on your axle.

Small as in length or diameter?

Your right I don't see any mounts on mine, so only drivers side strap ubolts, got it.

OEM dodge are skinny........if you have junkyards nearby, you can pull one from a newer dakota or durango and it will do until you find a vendor that just sells the larger bar with new bushings. At least you will have all the bracketry to start with.
Rear bar should always be smaller than front bar....

The rear sway bars didn't come behind any 1st Gen. Dakota.
Pinkfloyeffect The hose is the rear axle vent. It just needs to be tied up with it extended up. Don't plug the hose. Also you got the Chrysler 7.25 axle.
