The tranny in my 94 4x4 Dakota has 2 three pin connectors and the tranny i went and looked at today has 2 three pin connectors that are in the same spots and the same style why wound that not work .
Go for it if YOU think it is the same. But when it doesn't work don't say we didn't worn you.
+1. Go buy it and put it in your truck then.
But both transmissions do have 2 connectors. The 42/46rh has:
1) 3 Pin P/N safety switch and backup light switch
2) 3 Pin TCC lockup soleniod and overdrive solenoid connector
And the 42/46re has:
1) 3 Pin P/N safety switch and backup light switch
2) 8 Pin transmission solenoid assembly harness that controls the governor valve, tcc lockup solenoid and overdrive solenoid plus signal for some additional sensors that the 42/46rh doesn't have (same location as the 42/46rh's 3 pin TCC connector)
So you may want to unplug them and look a little closer. If the tranmission you are looking at really does have 2 3 pin connectors and not that 8 pin connector, then its not a 1996 transmission and you might want to question why its in a 1996 truck.
No im not 100% that this is a 96 trans or that its the OE for the truck the guyt said that it was rebuilt in 04 and the truck has 92 K on it he still has the truck so i can go double check that but the plugs r the same all the way bothe three pin's so i think im gona taka a gamble on it, he said it was a runner when he got it and parted it out because he had the moter sold and the truck was really rusty.
I knew what i was buying i bought thr tranny and transfer case for 400$$ i knew that the output from the transfer case was bigger than the one that was in my dakota this is a simple fix find the right out put yoke and get a basterd u joint.....
