Question 2000 Mustang rims???

I'm not sure if I should post this in here or not.. Sorry if I wasn't supposed to.

Will 2000 Mustang rims fit on my 88 Dakota 2wd? It looks like the bolt patterns are the same. If they do fit on, would I need/do anything special?

Thanx

Yes they will work. The bolt pattern is the same. But as far as clearances and backspace ect it all depends on the exact rims, so get them and try.

And as far as speedo, it all depends on your overall tire size. If it is close to your stock size it will be okay.

Ford rims USUALLY have a slightly smaller center hole than Mopar.
That is one issue, but a machine shop can fix that for you.

Other issue is backspace/offset. Gen I dakota wheels are 15x7 and 5 inch back space.

I am using 16x7 ford explorer sport trac wheels. they are 16x7 with 4.5" backspace. The wheels end up sticking out a half inch, but that is minor. Real issue is how wide your tires will be. My tires are 225mm width, maximum stock tire on a 2wd is 215mm. So 5mm plus half an inch, and the tires are sticking out .7" which is too little to worry about. Each additional tire width increase of 10mm will push the tires out about .2".....
2wd dakotas with factory rims and without a lift kit will experience some rubbing in the front wheel wells at the 235mm width. Rear wheel openings are much more forgiving.
4wd dakotas can run a much bigger/wider tire....

Speedo issue depends on tire diameter. You should be able to find a tire that is the same diameter as what came on your dakota.
