Trouble code 41?
Hey everyone,
Getting a trouble code 41 from the PCM. 41 Generator field not switching properly. Does anybody know more about this? Generators were retired a long time before OBD1 computer were put in.

...or you have an open ckt in the field coil wires.
Just replaced the Alternator and I am still getting the error 41. Is this a problem with the voltage regulator?
Did some more trouble shooting last night. The solid green wire isn't grounding at the pcm correctly. We bypassed this by shoving a pin into the green wire at the pam and running a jumper to ground. We removed the jumper and it stopped charging, placed the jumper back and it worked again. I have also noticed that the problem doesn't happen first thing in the moring while the pcm is still very cool. After several miles it warms up and it stops charging again. I called summit racing and they concurred and are sending me another new HP pcm.

Just an update. Put in the factory equiped PCM and it charged the battery perfectly even after several miles on the interstate. Got the next PCM from summit in, Caseing looked perfect and there was no remanufactured sticker anywhere on this one! I put it in, connected the battery, crossed my fingers and it started right up. Took it for a quick run to Lawrence and it runs perfectly! Heres to hoping that it will stay that way! (CHEERS)
