I went down to the parts store and talked to them about their recommendations, and they told me that the duplicolor acrilic enamal was what every one used. I picked up a couple of cans of that (flat black) and a can of duplicolor high performance clear wheel coating. That clear is supposed to be resistant to chemicals, brake dust, and chipping, so we will see how long it last and all..

That looks real good! What did you do as far as prep work for the wheels? Did you media blast the wheels first then mount them and shoot them? Did you do it all while the tires were mounted? My wheels are chipped and yellowed and I like what I see in your wheels.

As far as prep work...
1) washed them and cleaned them with industrial strenght degreaser.
2) sanded them by hand with 220 grit sand paper.
3) cleaned them with degreaser on a shop towl to get all the dust and stuff off them
4) wiped them down with a duplicolor prep wipe( for preping painting surface), they also make a prep spray that will do the same thing.
5) I left them on the rim and took small pieces of duct tape and went around the rim on the tire and then took some masking paper and covered the rest of the tire.
6) wiped them down with the prep wipe again and waited for it to dry.
7) sprayed them with 3 coats of duplicolor acrylic enamel ( 10 to 15 min between each coat)
8) sprayed them down with 3 coats of duplicolor high performance clear coat wheel paint.

That is all I done to get them like that. I think they turned out really good considering that is my first set of wheels I have painted.

this is what they looked like all taped up after a couple coats

you did them the exact same way i did mine, even used the same painting materials(except i skip the clear coat) and the same amount of coasts per rim...lol the only thing i did for pep work though is just washed my rims. everywhere i go people ask me if i had my rims powdercoated and if i had it professionally done. now its your turn to drive places and get the compliments...lol

they look good. better than mine even(mine got scratched when i put the new tires on)

It annoys me that some models came with 5 lugs and mine came with 6 lug. I have a spare set of 5's from my ZJ that would look good on my truck but they are 5 lug. The rims actually look good on your truck.

you could always switch them to 5 lug. not sure how much of a pita it would be though.

and will is your truck a short bed? thats my favorite body style.

I think its the 6' bed that I have.

I have a set of ZJ OEM rims from a 96 and look good sitting in front of my rims.
