Default Clunking noise near trani

Hello all,
I have 96 Dakota with a V6, 2WD, extended cab, with 203000 miles.
I am getting a clunking noise when I accelerate from a complete stop. It clunks only once.
Any ideas? I was thinking it was a U joint, but I dont think its that, wrong symptoms, it feels trannyish.
thanks

Could be anything. Just go under the truck and take a look.

Yeah, I dont know that I will actually see something, since it requires the force of the engine to make it clunk. But I am hoping to go under with an specific thing to look for.
Thanks
P

Double check the motor mounts and transmission mount.

The tranny mount is darn near indestructible more than likely it is your center bearing for your drive shaft...mine was screwed and when I replaced it I realized my engine mounts are gone too but start with the bearing it will be pretty obvious when you go under the truck and manhandle it a bit

LOL! No way. It is very easy for it to seperate. I had to replace mine a while back. Tons others too.

Ive been tolerating the clunking, when I looked it appears the mount has separated. I will start there and then move on from that.
Waiting for the weather to be right when I have time, sucks to work in the rain and mud.
