Okay, ordered a few more assembly parts for the engine, BUT..... I am having issues with the pushrod length. The stockers are definately too loose, so I ordered a checker rod. I have read and researched many differing opinions about checking pre-load. I need someone to link or state the definative procedure for determining the correct pushrod length (ie pre-load) for a roller cam to hydraulic roller with stock rocker arms. I am not going to purchase a roller setup at this time. I did note that Comp had a set at 7.2" (as opposed to the 6.92" stockers) which may fit, but I will not know til I get the checker rod. An option would be lash caps, but I do not believe I have enough room at the top of the valve stem to accomplish this as it is VERY shallow.

I would suggest calling up www.summitracing.com they can help you with the tech info. Or call up Comp they should have a tech line.

Those heads look sick by the way.

A definative view of the difference between Ram pans (5.9l) and a Durango/Dakota Pan (coincedentally a 5.2l).

Note the depth difference I am able to use a windage tray with the Durango/Dakota pan

Good luck with the swap. I think you have made a good choice for motor and trans. The trans had to be swapped to a 518. Not too convinced the V6 exhaust will let that particular motor breath enough. The kick down linkage might have to come out of an older Dodge pick up truck witha 727 in it and then might have to be modified a bit. Excellent pictures.

In case anyone is wondering why I have so many pics uploaded. It is mainly for those that are contemplating this swap on this era truck. Or, those that are wondering about carburetion (since I am from that era, and am probably more familiar with it than generation Y+). I apologize if it makes the thread slow to upload.

The radiator that was in it will not clear the water pump. Looking for options and pictures of successful swaps! It may not be the stock tranny as it looks much newer than the original accessories.

UPDATES: A518 tranny is in. Started running the ignition system and electronics. The stock speedo gear does not fit. Will have to go procure one from another Dak. Also the cooler lines between the A500 and A518, while close, are incompatible unless your careful rebending the lines (more of a twist as opposed to bending). The size of the orifices at the tranny differ as well, the A518 ones are larger. Will probably run new fuel lines from the tank and relocate the filter to the engine bay for better serviceability.

Pics to come as it looks appropriate.
