Default 1990 dodge dakota 3.9lt v6 no spark

1990 Dodge Dakota 3.9lt v6
OK right now the truck wont start but prior to this i have been having an intermittent problem where i am driving down the road acceleratiing and all of the sudden i lose power, engine surges, backfires and completely dies or sometimes just shuts right off at a light and wont start at all or will start right away and run fine its crazy im really sick of it! i changed the ignition coil and that seemed to solve the problem but here i am the next day and it wont even start
the coil gives ya one heck of a shock but there is nothin at the distributor

someone please reply so i dont feel so lost with this

It could be anything. A tune up would be a good start. Also check all your wires ect.

Wow dude... good way to get help... personally attack a section moderator. If you're "looking for a conversation", call one of those chat line numbers, if you want help fixing your truck, take it as it comes... we aren't getting paid for this. As Crazy suggested, check your wires. If your coil has power but it isn't going through the distributor, the wires would be a good place to start looking.

Oh, and go ahead and report my post too... I dare you. (Me and Crazy4x4rt will be the ones recieving that email.)

Yeah, reporting a perfectly acceptable post because you didn't like the answer and then making a snide comment about somthing in his signature... I don't know what else to call it besides attacking him.

If the coil is good, wires are good, and cap/rotor are good, then its a sensor or computer issue. The crankshaft position sensor is a likely culprit and cheaper to replace than the computer, so that makes it a good place to start. If that doesn't fix it, the camshaft position sensor could also cause spark problems. If that does fix it, its likely you have a bad computer.
