If your truck is like my 91,vacuum has EVERYTHING to do with 4X4.You should have a vacuum line down to the switch on the transfer case.Look to see if you got all the vacuum lines in the right place.

I'm assuming you have a Ram and not a Dakota. Due to no 85 Dakota and your vehicle bar says a 85 D 150. You are in the Dakota section. 80's did have vacuum operated CAD and Auto-hubs. So it is possible you didn't put back on a line or put it in the wrong spot.
