They work just fine with a manual transmission.

5.2 and 5.9 flywheels and flexplates are different, the 5.9 is externally ballanced. I would use the 3.9 pressure plate and disk.

Thanks for the input I'm assuming you mean the mopar auto PCMs.

And thanks for clearing the pressure plate / clutch issue.

Smile Covering my bases

I know this has been covered well in numerous threads but I still have a couple of questions, as I am about to drop a 5.9 in my 99 Ram 1500 5 speed. I am also planning on keeping the 5 speed manual set up, and plan to splice the 7 & 8 injectors into my existing harness. The donor vehicle is a 99 Durango automatic that was totaled. It was loaded with options, where as my p/u has a base set up. Does this effect the PCM as far as the auto to manual trans, and then the difference in accessories ? My plan was to use the PCM from the V-8 donor vehicle, but am not sure ? I know I will need a flywheel for the 5.9, and plan on getting the truck style oil pan , and also doing the plenum plate upgrade. I think I should go ahead and do the water pump and those impossible to get to hoses as well. Other than that the engine runs well. Any input as to things I should also cover while the engine is out ? Also I understand there is some question as to the tranny holding up ? I am not sure which one I have, but as I've said, my p/u is the base model and my guess is that I have the base tranny as well. The only pulling I do is to and from the boat ramp , and at 47 have outgrown my need for speed. Do I need to worry about the trans, or will I be fine under moderate conditions ? Thanks in advance as Dodge Forum has always been a wealth of info.

i would swap for a stronger trans because your still towing with it. you'll be putting all that V8 through the V6 tranny when towing and it will eventually give.

The NV3500 is fairly tough, mines holding up very well to my abuse.

How much do you plan on towing?

I have a 21' Chris Craft, with the trailer and a full load of fuel probably talking less than 3500lbs.

Found the manual 5.9 mopar performance pcm.

Anyone tried the ram throttle cable?

Also if I find a ram 5 spd is the transfer case the same? Found a nv3500 from a 96 ram
