i've been checking the coolant level the last few days and the coolant level is the same as when i filled it up and it hasn't leaked since. my grandpa thinks that maybe it just had an air bubble in it. the gauge hasn't gone up past 1/4 on the scale.

i found some pics i took. i apologize in advance for the quality(i changed a setting a while back and now i can't get it back to normal)

Default Removing a/c

Just a word of warning. You said you were planning on getting rid of the a/c and i wanted to warn you that refridgerant can cause blindness so it would be a good idea to have a shop evacuate the system before you try to disconnect the a/c lines. You might have to change the serpentine belt, if you have one, unless you leave the compressor in place as the old belt won't fit without the compressor.

I know about the refrigerant. i dodged that bullet a few weeks ago with my dads b2500 when i changed teh compressor for him, good thing it was empty. i plan on it but right now i'm doing excellent with saving money and such i'm waiting on it which is why i won't be fixing anything on it for a while. i've been lucky enough that my company is doing work on my house so i haven't had to drive anywhere or i'd have been in a ditch a lot the past few days with my almost bald(less than a yr old) front tires and nothing to weigh my truck down. i pan on having the ac system emptied by a mechanic shop(unless my dad does it for me since he has the proper tools) before i mess around with it.

ok so it got to the point where i couldn't keep any coolant in the motor, so i parked it last thursday. after waiting to get the truck in the garage it got warm out so i started on it yesterday. the pump was shot along with the bypass hose and lower radiator hose. so last night i went one step further and bough an electric fan lower radiator hose and a brand new water pump with lifetime warranty. this morning i got it all installed but i can't decide if i wan both fans to kick in at the same time or have one on the low side and one on the high side...

I would change out the thermostat as well, while you are there. I've replaced the waterpump, bypass hose, both radiator hoses, and the radiator on my '93. On these trucks, it's best to do the wp, bypass hose, and thermostat all at the same time. My experience has been that when one goes, the others will soon follow.

all the gen 1 daks have a " weep hole " in the bottom of the water pump if the seal goes bad antifreeze will leak out, the clockwise rotation of the fan will spray it into the alt.

i did change the i took the thermostat out and tested it. it was still good so i threw it back in. i do get good heat...till i turn the fans on. they cool the truck down to fast...lol but for some strange reason the fan controller won't kick them on so i'm stuck turning them on manually right now. i did find the weep hole after i took the pump out.

my Grandfather says my waterpump will outlast the truck now...lol

One most vehicles that I know of (like the camaro I had), when the fans dont kick in, its because the coolant sensor was faulty. I did not know it was overheating.

i picked up a cheap one yesterday from autozone and its been working ever since. so far in normal city driving its kept the temp down to below half and on the highway it doesn't even turn on(not that it needs to). i'll be keeping an eye on it though for the next week or so.
