Default WTF did I do to deserve this

At about 1230 this morning (its 130am Eastern now) I'm comin home from my girls house, and I get to about 6 miles from my house and the hood pins I have holding my hood closed snapped and my hood goes flying open and smacks my windshield. I am glad I didn't have anyone behind me because I slammed on my brakes and throw the hazzards on. As it sits right now the Hood, Hood Hinges (do I got to take the fenders off to replace them?????), and the Windshield need to be replaced (thank god for glass coverage). I'm steamed and scared at the same time. But I'm glad myself or anyone else got hurt.

Hood pins? Meaning you replaced the stock hood latch with racing style hood hold downs?

Here are the pictures of some of the damage, the pictures of the windshield didn't come out so good.

And this one is of the new hood I picked up for $150, had to get the hood and the hinges but it's worth it, but my question is who would use masking take on a 1st Gen to make flames and spell "Woodstock" took me an hour to get the masking tape off and clean up the glue left behind. A heat gun and Acetone worked GREAT!

I honestly don't know but my luck hasn't been good all week lol. But she's almost back to gold, gotta wait til Wednesday for Safelight to come out and replace the windshield, then after that, come springtime gonna re-paint the whole truck do one complete color, remove the decals that came stock and the name of the truck might have a buddy of mine come over and do some painted letters in cursive or something to make it really stand out. She still drives good and all, new hood stays down lol. But im more afraid about driving it when the sun goes down cause I know the glare will hurt the eyes man, now I'll know what it feels like to be the Ant behind the magnifying glass

not to call you out or anything, but something else has to be up to make that kind of up force on the pins... something you're not telling us? maybe you forgot to put the pins in, or cut a corner somewhere...
we've ALL done dumb things when it comes to working on cars.. so come on; anything else we're missing out on? :-)

Well I haven't cut any corners the pins have been in for 1000 miles before this, and they have been installed since September of last year. Honestly I think the cotter pins (its what I call them) just gave way. I'll take a picture of the hood fully installed tomorrow, was to dark by the time I pulled it out to take a picture.
