Not sure if this helps but the black/yellow wire should be the running/parking lights. According to the wiring diagram I have it's not supposed to grounded...try reoving that ground wire(or clip it if it runs into another splice) and try. It might be the problem .also make sure that the rear turn light works too.

I found this in the FAQ section and followed the diagnosis all the way to step 4 for the turn signal system checklist. Everything checked OK, but my when I check for voltage at the flasher terminals In step 4 it says...
(4) With the ignition switch in the On position,
place the turn signal lever in the neutral position.
There should be battery voltage at the fused ignition
switch output circuit cavity for the turn signal
flasher. If OK, go to Step 5. If not OK, repair the
open circuit as required.

That is the longest name for an electrical componant I have ever heard of!!!! I took a guess and figured it meant to remove the cylindrical blue flasher from the fuse black and test for voltage between the two terminals. I did that and with the turn signal switch in the neutral position I get no voltage, but when either in the up or down position I get 12.5v.

I am guessing I have tested the wrong spot, but they don't give that great of an explanation as to what I am supposed to be testing. I went ahead and skipped over that test and went to #5 There was no continueity between the flasher terminals so it looks like I have an open somewhere in the circuit. This is going to be a real bitch to figure out.

Here is what the whole procedure says to do...
DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING
INTRODUCTION
When diagnosing the turn signal or hazard warning
circuits, remember that high generator output
can burn out bulbs rapidly and repeatedly. If this is a
problem on the vehicle being diagnosed, refer to
Group 8C - Charging System for further diagnosis.
WARNING: ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AN AIRBAG,
REFER TO GROUP 8M - PASSIVE RESTRAINT
SYSTEMS BEFORE ATTEMPTING STEERING
WHEEL OR STEERING COLUMN COMPONENT
DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. FAILURE TO TAKE THE
PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL
AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE
PERSONAL INJURY.
TURN SIGNAL SYSTEM
For circuit descriptions and diagrams, refer to
8W-52 - Turn Signals in Group 8W - Wiring Diagrams.
(1) Turn the ignition switch to the On position.
Move the turn signal lever down for a left turn signal
problem, or up for a right turn signal problem.
Observe the turn signal indicator lamp in the instrument
cluster. If the lamp lights but does not flash,
check for an exterior turn signal lamp that is not lit.
Replace the faulty bulb or repair the circuits to that
lamp, as required. Test the turn signal operation
again. If the turn signal indicator lamp does not light
or still doesn’t flash, go to Step 2.
(2) Check the fuse in the fuseblock module. If OK,
go to Step 3. If not OK, replace the faulty fuse.
(3) With the ignition switch in the On position,
check for battery voltage at the fuse in the fuseblock
module. If OK, go to Step 4. If not OK, repair the
open circuit as required.
(4) With the ignition switch in the On position,
place the turn signal lever in the neutral position.
There should be battery voltage at the fused ignition
switch output circuit cavity for the turn signal
flasher. If OK, go to Step 5. If not OK, repair the
open circuit as required.
(5) Replace the turn signal flasher with a known
good unit of the same rating. The lamps should flash.
If OK, discard the faulty flasher. If not OK, re-install
the original flasher and go to Step 6.
WARNING: ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AN AIRBAG,
REFER TO GROUP 8M - PASSIVE RESTRAINT
SYSTEMS BEFORE ATTEMPTING STEERING

(6) Check for continuity between the turn signal
flasher signal circuit cavities for the turn signal
flasher and in the multi-function switch connector.
There should be continuity. If OK, see the diagnosis
for the multi-function switch in this group. If not OK,
repair the open circuit as required.

Default try another socket

i had one on my 93 do the same thing ,,it turned out to be a bad socket ,,it looked fine but i ended up spliceing a new socket in and it worked fine and still works this was the back turn signal that didn't work on mine ,,that was before i figured that all i had to do was unplug the old socket at the main feed conector and go to a junk yard and get another one ,,it might save ya a bunch of headache to try another socket ,,if it still gives ya problems then i'd look at the wireing ,,my theroy... is it's never the simple thing ,,lol,,lol,,then it always turns out to be the 5 min "too easy cheapest solution",,lol,,also have ya checked the flasher? and make sure the bulb your useing in the front and back are both the same numbers ,,just some things to try that usually don't cost much ,,

The flasher should be fine, because the driver side signals and hazard lights all flash like normal.

I slit the insulation on the wires as they entered the bulb socket. I got full voltage on the green/brown wire and .22v on the black/yellow wire. If it were the socket, then shouldn't I have full voltage on the black/yellow wire?

After reading the turn signal section in the service manual I think i am going to buy an upgraded flasher for the time being, b/c it has different circuitry and will allow the rear passenger light bulb to flash even if the front is having problems. That will at least let the people behind me know that I am turning.

Okay I got an upgraded flasher today from NAPA for $10 and it will allow all of the lights to flash except for the big turn signal up front on the passenger side. The small marker lamp will flash, so that is good enough for me! I wish I knew how to fix the whole thing, but I have other issues to deal with.

it would be funny if the only problem was you didn't buy a dual fil bulb that allowed both constant parking light and flashing turn sugnal...
actually i'm currently having the exact same issue with my front driverside signal..
my issue was intermitent at first, but now is constant... i've been to lazy to mess with it so far
