Default 94 Dakota tires rub

I just bought a 94 Dakota, V8 4x4. it has a 2.5" body lift and 31x10 50R15LT tires on it. When you look at them, it looks like it has PLENTY of clearance. but when i have to make a sharp/tight turn, and turn the wheel all the way, the tires rub. now it actually rubs on the side close to the doors, not the bumper. It does have fender flares on it, but it is rubbing on the body, not the flares. I'm guessing the guy I bought it off of just put the wrong size tires on?? any thoughts? b/c they are brand new tires and don't really want to get rid of them. Thanks

It sounds like the backspacing of your rim is incorrect for that size of tire, is this on the stock mags? Sounds like the tire should be sitting about a half inch further out from the hub, which would be backspacing/offset

This is a good article on it, from what I am told 31's should fit on these trucks stock, I have not tried so I dont know but with a body lift you should be fine.

Same size tires on mine, with stock rims they didn't rub, my aftermarket rims have less backspace so they stick out further and rub at full lock.

yeah that seems odd to me. my 31s at stock height only rub on the frame at full turn and usually only in reverse or if i hit a bump. and my friends with a 2 inch body lift and 33s doesnt rub at all so yeah that seems odd to me lol

they do only rub when i have the wheel turned all the way... and i have noticed that it only barely rubs when going forward. But in reverse it sounds like my truck is being ripped apart.

Yeah, those wheels have too little backspace like mine, with stock backspace they won't rub..
