Default exhaust help

Ever since I started messing with my exhaust I had nothing but problems. With that being said I turned over a new leaf. I'm gunna bring it to a shop and get her done right, and welded. This time however I'm going all the way. True duals that exit straight out the back. I was thinking about a Thrush Turbo mufflers and the high-flow cats. How will this work with my single O2 sensor? Also I am putting the stock manifolds back on. Ever since I bought the cheap pacesetter headers I had nothing but leaks. Any other muffler suggestions? I'm going for what my dad told me as a California Turbo sound. He had them and glasspacks with a stock manifold on a K5 blazer with a 350. Sounded like a beast. Now that you know what I'm looking for any suggestipns? Also any cheap, ma and pa type muffler shops in North Eastern PA?

Turbo mufflers are a compromise between performance and sound resonance. Overall a good choice if your middle of the road. Headers are fickle. Maybe if you find a bag of money one day, you can opt for a set from TTI or Gibson, but headers require maintenance periodically. The "glass packs" are really just a resonance chamber. You can install the mufflers and drive it to see of you need additional chambers after them. Most shops do not mind the pause. Good luck otherwise.

Thanks. I'm looking more for sound and by sound I mean nice deep growling tone, not loud obnoxious noise. Do you know how bad the drone is? Also what size should I make the pipes?

If your looking for a particular sound check www.youtube.com THOUSANDS of videos and you can find exactly the sound you want and see what setup they use.

I've got a single Thrush glasspack on mine that sounds good, it's loud with a growl but not obnoxious at higher RPMs.

From what I found, Thrush Turbo seems to be right what I want. Just was looking to see if anyone had experience with them. Thanks guys. I'll also consider that glasspack

You can do both, but be careful with straight mufflers without resonance chambers, because they will be raspy in the upper rpm's (not that a stock cam can get there). The thicker the metal around the muffler and exhaust, the more mellow the sound will be. Also, the length and flaring affects the quality of the tone. A straight pipe from the exhaust will sound higher than one with an expanded tip, but not by much. Just my .02.

I recently went from a glass pack to a flowmaster 40 series muffler. It's still loud, but it backfired too much with the glass pack on. Now with the flowmaster, It didn't lose much noise, and every crack that comes out is just back compression; which sounds great. If you truck is a v6, you don't have to worry about the raspy terrible sounding exhausts. Good luck

i like the headers with glass packs, great sound, reminds me of the 70's muscle cars when i grew up, not like the lawnmowers i hear drive by everyday. (put a $300 exhaust on a $200 car)

i've got 2.5 inch jpipe no cat and thrush welded. i'ts loud but not obnoxius. and at higher rpm it sounds like a finely tuned machine. this is with just one pipe though. i love it and it's not a high doller muffler.
