its a proportioning valve. from what i've heard it limits the brake pressure between the front and rear brakes depending on the weight in the back of the vehicle so that the rears wont lock up easily when the bed is empty or vise versa(sp?). im sure someone with better knowledge of it will chime in.

I still need to make a bracket, I zip tied it just to test around the block and such:
While the system was still dry I replaced the patched rear drivers line with a single piece:
Of course I forgot to keep the old bolts and they were returned with the caliper cores so I bought new ones:
The new front flex hoses now installed....soooo much rust:
Look at how bad the front brake lines are haha the rings were completely disintegrated:
If you look closely at the bottom of the proportioning valve the hard line running to the rear is about 5 years old and solid, but the line from the valve to the T-splitter was a bit shady:
New T's are not sold with a mounting bracket so I had to use zip ties:
More zip ties...
I was not able to run the line behind the steering rack but I did the best I could with going over it so I did not have to remove it to install the line:
I just need additional bleeding and I am good, all new brakes!

i agree but be glad yours isn't like mine, pink. mines rotted through under the cab right by the torsion bars.

the red was pinkish when I got it... original pic shows that but I buffed it and buffed it and wet sanded and so fourth and got original shine back...
yea well im sure you seen my recent pic..... hell u can still see the black paint on the frame in the picture the body itself is mint and undercab still has paint....lol this truck was a nice find with only 132200km's on it when I got it and pride of ownerships shows..
bout a week ago I had a guy offer me 6k for the truck, I looked at him and said, what am I gonna get with that? in this kinda shape and km's a cavalier? (just bought one anyway LOL)

Bypass what the proportioning valve? No, if I do that the rear wheels will lock up lol.
I know the rust is bad they put a lot of salt on the roads here, the body was not bad but caught up quickly and things are being replaced. I will start a new chassis build and salvage the parts I can from this truck exp any modded parts....I need better income first but that is the plan.
